Just kidding. The beauty in no make up-make up is more like it. Probably the question i’m asked most often from people who see me regularly is “do you ever leave the house without make up?” In short- the answer is no. BUT I can assure you I am not doing three different school pick ups with false eyelashes and perfectly applied lipstick. With a few products you can have a polished, natural look that takes 5 minutes and feels great all day long. Here are my favorite products to achieve a no make up look…
A really great BB or CC cream. The letters are confusing, but B or C, they’re the same thing. This product is not a foundation, it’s more of a tinted moisturizer with SPF and brightening properties. It’s lightweight and doesn’t feel cakey. Applying with your fingertips helps the product warm up before it gets to your face, this will give you a very natural look. Apply just like moisturizer. My Fave is Supergoop in Light/Medium.
Easy mascara. Skip the fiber based mascara formulas for “no make up” day. I stay with my tried and true mascara but any buildable formula will do. My fave, again is Better Than Sex by Too Faced
Bronzer. There are so many beautiful brozners out there! For “no make up” day, you are just creating subtle definition, not a false tan. Using a blush brush, lightly dip in your matte (stay away from the shimmery bronzers for “no make up” day) bronzer and make the shape of a number #3 on your face (as detailed in my very professional sketch hehe). Starting at the top of your face, around your eyes in at your nose then around and in at your chin, repeat on both sides. Any ash colored brozer will do. This Rimmel Brozer always looks great on everyone!
Brow Pencil. You don’t have to get crazy with filling in your brows, a few light strokes will do the trick. By lightly filling in your eye brows you give your entire face structure. My fave remains Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe.
Add chapstick and you’re ready to roll!
Here’s the thing. I see absolutely nothing wrong with women who choose not to wear make up daily, especially when they’re running their kids to and from school or at home doing housework. Or even running errands. From the bottom of my heart, I am not judging you. In fact, i’m celebrating women who feel confident without make up just as much as i’m celebrating women who feel confident with make up. My personal choice to wear make up has nothing to do with anyone else, or really what anyone will think of me. For me, the simple act of getting up early and putting myself together starts my day out right. I feel like I am putting my best foot forward. If I were to throw on sweats and a hat (I’ve done it before, and i’ll do it again, just not often!) I know that for ME, I am not doing my best for myself. I know I can be better and set a better tone for my day and my family, that’s why I choose to do my hair and make up everyday, even if i’m coming home to mop the floor. Do what makes you feel good, when you feel good you will radiate from the inside, it really is true. But if you need a little pep in your step, try my “no make up” routine, you just might feel great!

PS- The secret to a pretty “messy bun” is clean hair! Too often women try to get ONE more day out of their already 3-day hair and throw it up in a messy bun. You know what i’m talking about. Wash your hair, let it air dry then throw it up. You’ll still save yourself from the pain of blow drying but your bun will look soft and pretty.
