stilletoHow many gals are intimidated by wearing heels, especially for a long period of time? The answer- a lot! I hear it all the time “I don’t know how you are wearing heels, I could never!” The truth is that after my third baby, I don’t wear heels as often as I used to but I do still wear them at least once a week. There is a little trick to making your heels feel more comfortable as well as keeping your balance. Trust me, I am as clumsy as they come, so if I can put on a pair of 2.5″ heeled booties and go the grocery store, so can you!

There are four simple things you have to remember in order to  walk gracefully in heels:

  1. Shoulders back. Not over extended, just stand with good posture.
  2. Pelvis forward. This sounds funny but stand up and notice how it feels if you tilt your hip bones forward, chances are you don’t usually stand this way.
  3. Chin parallel to the floor. By keeping your head up, your whole body will follow and your balance will be improved.
  4. Glide. Glide. Glide. lol, I don’t know how but my oldest daughter, my mom and I added that part a few years ago. We giggle every time we say it out loud but there’s some reasoning …make a point to “glide” or be graceful. Be aware of your body. Be aware not to stomp or slouch, it makes a difference!

Now go to your closet and do a little practice walk, you’ll be strutting stilettos to run errands in no time!
